"The Antidote" went in to the paint shed on 12th November 2002, and stayed there until she was finished. |

Fitting out continued apace. The galley worktop (FormicaŽ "Midnight Dust" -
quarry finish) is shown here fitted in place with the twin sink unit plumbed in.

The 67 gallon polypropylene holding tank was made to measure and fits neatly under
the double bed on the centreline of the boat - so, no matter whether it is empty
or full, it does not affect the trim.
At the far end you can see the pipes which discharge into the top of the holding
tank from the electric toilets. (One was later blanked off when the second toilet
was changed for a PortaPotti unit).

The pedestal basin was set on a 50mm hardwood plinth so that its waste was above the
outlet passing through the hull, which had to be a certain height above water level.
(There are pumps to empty the bath and the bidet - we didn't want to put
in a third pump for the basin).
To the left of the basin is the bath (covered here with a protective board)
and to its right the towel
radiator was held in position with bits of timber prior to fixing.
The original plan was to set the bidet at a slight angle, but we decided to fix it
parallel with the toilet because there was plenty of space and it looked
aesthetically more pleasing like this.

These two photos show the engine bay before and after preparation.
Four months of exposure to the elements had taken its toll on the
paint inside the engine bay. The problem is that primers are not weatherproof.
I have never seen such a sparkling engine bay as this after it
had been cleaned up and painted with silver
Hammerite paint ready to take the engine. |

The engine was fitted on 4th December 2002.
Unfortunately this triggered the next stage payment!
Although the engine looks a bit scruffy in the photo, it was of course a brand new
Beta Green Line 43HP diesel from
Beta Marine - it just had some sawdust on it.
Knowing the way they work at Weltonfield, I was sure
that it would be cleaned up before being bolted down.

How right I was!
One week later (photo taken 11th December 2002), the engine installation
had been completed. You could have eaten your dinner off it!
I was impressed by Mark's efforts to ensure that the engine and propellor
shaft were accurately aligned (even though I specified a
Centaflex M-Series
flexible coupling).
